Indian opener Prithvi Shaw suffered a freakish ankle injury on day 3 of the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI. The in-form cricketer attempted a catch in the boundary and ended up hurting his ankle. He was in pain and stayed down until the Indian physio came down to check on him. Later, he was carried off the field and then to the hospital for a scan.
Prithvi Shaw in crutches, India sweats
As per the latest update, Shaw is back at the SCG in crutches and is currently doubtful for the first Test in Adelaide. The all important game will take place next week and India have lot to sweat over. Shaw has been in red-hot form and smoked a 69-ball 66 runs on Day 2 of the warm-up game in Sydney.
In case Shaw gets rested, the visitors will have to choose between KL Rahul, Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma, Opener Rahul is going through poor form and has failed to deliver lately. Coach Sanjay Banger was quite critical of Rahul and said that the batter is finding new ways of getting out. Rohit can be an option to open alongside Vijay; who has been recalled into the side.

A medical update is due
“The medical team is assessing Prithvi Shaw at the moment,” the BCCI had earlier tweeted. “He hurt his left ankle while attempting to take a catch at the boundary ropes. Shaw is being taken to the hospital for scans.”
The team management including Banger had praised the youngster time and again. “In whichever format he’s played he’s made a mark straightaway,” Banger said. “Wherever he has played he has shown he can adapt to conditions and the stage as well. He plays with a lot of clarity and the impressive thing about him is he gets into good position. The fearlessness of youth probably helps him.” he added.

Could be a body blow for India if something major comes up for Prithvi Shaw. He appeared to have rolled over his ankle while taking a catch at deep midwicket boundary. Hope nothing too serious. #CAXIvIND #INDvCAXI
