Australia’s Sam Fanning is the latest to land in trouble after being found guilty for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The Australian batsman violated article 2.12 during Australia’s U-19 World Cup quarter-final game against India. The on-field umpires Adrian Holdstock and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid levelled the charge apart from the third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Asif Yaqoob.

The article 2.12 relates to “inappropriate physical contact with another player during an international match”. During the match on Wednesday at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, Fanning struck his elbow out in the 31st over of the innings that made contact with the bowler while running. Post their loss to India in the quarter-finals, the batsman admitted to the offence and as a result, accepted the sanction imposed by the referee Graeme Labrooy.

Sam Fanning Receives Two Demerit Points:

His acceptance also prevented any formal hearing. That time Fanning was batting on 48 and he stuck his elbow out that made contact with the bowler Akash Singh. The bowler seemed unimpressed due to the incident and replays confirmed that it had been done on purpose. It was a level one breach because of which ICC has slapped Fanning with two demerit points. The 19-year old scored 75 in Australia’s chase of 234 which they eventually lost by 75 runs.
