Well, after watching 50-over game, the officials have cut that short to 20-over cricket, which entertained the fans to the core. Later, it was cut short to 10 overs and recently, the England and Wales Cricket Board has proposed a 100-ball format. Now, UAE has come up with another format, which is named as 90-Ninety bash.

UAE has introduced a new cricket format called the 90-ninety bash, which is a ninety-ball cricket game. The first season of this format will be staged in Sharjah next year, with the Emirates Cricket Board giving its approval.

According to the tournament’s press release: “The proposed 90-Ninety format will be shorter than Twenty20. It is with the aim of making every contest sharp, edgy and action-packed. And also, for retaining the importance of cricket skills at the core of its success.”

The league is expected to feature the biggest names of the cricketing world alongside exciting emerging talent which will be the perfect recipe of entertainment for the cricket fans. UAE has always encouraged such tournaments, which are unique and entertainment is the only motto of them. But, unfortunately, that didn’t sit well with the fans.

UAE already introduced the T10 league last year. However, it was criticised heavily as it was tampering with the existing game of cricket. England too has launched The Hundred, which too, has come under criticism.

Well, it would be interesting to see how the tournament will be received by the fans. The concept is surely an interesting one, however, can they organise it without coming in the midway of other tournaments? One has to wait and see.
