Paceman Vernon Philander ties a knot

Since past, one year cricketers got hitched, and that includes Team India skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli got married to Bollywood star Anushka Sharma in December 2017, as Vernon Philander has become the latest to join the list.

Earlier this week, South African fast bowler Vernon Philander got married to his fiancée, Mandy.

In the Test opener at Newlands, Philander broke the back of Indian batting line-up. He bagged six wickets after giving away 42 runs. India went on to lose the match by 72 runs.

The 32-year-old Philander recently played a major rule for the Proteas in the three-match Sunfoil Test series against India.

The hosts led by Faf du Plessis register the 2-1 series win following the spectacular return for Team India in Johannesburg Test.

Interestingly, Philander is representing the domestic side Cape Cobras.

The Cape Cobras Twitter handle congratulates Philander for the marriage. It has also marked the confirmation of the marriage.

However, Philander was not the part of the Proteas fold for the limited-overs series.

Dominant India routed the Proteas by 5-1 in ODI series. With series culminating after a little over the 50-day rigorous tour, Men in Blue sealed T20 series by 2-1. India lifted the T20I trophy after the seven-run win in the series decider in Cape Town.

The bowling all-rounder Philander has so far featured in 50 Tests, 30 One-day Internationals, and seven Twenty20 Internationals.

Known for his unerring accuracy, Philander has bagged 233 scalps across formats after making his debut in June 2007 against Ireland.

Handy with the bat, Philander has also amassed 1,290 runs in 68 innings. He registered seven fifties under his belt.

The Bellville-born Vernon Philander has been impeccable with the ball particularly while donning the whites for Proteas.
