Former Windies captain, Brian Lara recently predicted two teams who could face off each other in the finals of the 2019 World Cup in England & Wales commencing on May 30, 2019.

However, next year’s World Cup is merely six and the half months away. The first match will take place between England and South Africa at the Kennington, Oval in London.

Moreover, Brian Lara added Pakistan-led by Sarfraz Ahmed would enter into the tournament as the dark horses. He also mentioned India is slightly dependent on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, the legendary batsman says the hosts England and the men in blue look likely to enter the summit clash.

“England is a powerful team. Though it has not won any major events, at home, it should be a difficult proposition. India has been consistently playing well. However, it (playing in England) is different compared to doing well at home. It looks it is too dependent on Rohit (Sharma) and Kohli. You need to have good players from No. 4 to 7 as there is no guarantee of the top-order clicking all the time,” Brian Lara was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Furthermore, Windies is currently in India and is involved in a three-match T20I series. The hosts whitewashed the visitors in the Test matches followed by another ODI series defeat by 3-1. India sealed the T20I series by 2-0 and will play the dead rubber on November 11 (Sunday).

While speaking about the national team’s performance in both red and white-ball cricket, Lara mentioned they could have done better.

The 2019 World Cup would take place in England and Wales.

“They could have done better. We have left a legacy in this format (Test cricket) with all our hard work and skills. Test matches getting over in just three days is not a very good sign for West Indies cricket.” Brian Lara added.

However, Brian Lara has played 131 Tests and 299 ODIs for the Windies. He holds some incredible records, one of them is of scoring an unbeaten 400 runs in an inning in Tests.
