Rashid Khan, the Gujarat Titans (GT) vice-captain stopped the fiery innings of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Deepak Hooda in the ongoing encounter between the two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises in their debut match of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the 4th match of the ongoing tournament.

LSG put into bat first by GT captain Hardik Pandya, was rattled badly by Mohammad Shami, who picked three high-class wickets, including one of LSG captain KL Rahul on the first ball of the match itself, as he was caught behind by Matthew Wade.

Then Shami then got rid of Quinton de Kock for 7, clean bowling him, and then picked the prize wicket of Manish Pandey as well. In between, Varun Aaron got rid of dangerous Evin Lewis, leaving LSG teetering at 29/4.

Deepak Hooda then partnered up with Ayush Badoni and added 87 runs for the sixth wicket. Hooda made 55 in 41 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes in that partnership, before GT spinner Rashid Khan stopped his onslaught, having dismissed him LBW.

The on-field umpire gave it not out despite Rashid’s prolonged appeal and captain Hardik Pandya trusted his deputy and asked for the DRS review. The replays and the ball-tracking showed that the ball hit below the knee pad as Hooda tried to sweep Rashid and with no glove touching the ball, it was crashing into the middle stump.

Gujarat Titans Won The Toss And Chose To Bowl First

Gujarat Titans had picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill ahead of the IPL 2022 auction and named Pandya as their captain. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants picked KL Rahul as their captain and along with him picked Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis before the auction.
