Sri Lanka National Cricket Team players gave senior pacer Suranga Lakmal a guard of honour as he completed his spell and walked out of the ground for the last time in international cricket.

The 35-year-old Suranga Lakmal is playing his last international match for Sri Lanka National Cricket Team against Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the second match of the two-match Test series, which is a pink-ball Test match.

The right-arm pacer Suranga Lakmal has played 70 Test games, 86 One Day International games and 11 T20 International games. He has managed to pick 171 wickets in Test cricket at an average of 36.44, an economy of 3.00 and a strike rate of 72.7. Also, he has bagged 109 One Day International wickets and 8 T20 International wickets.

The 35-year-old Ranasinghe Arachchige Suranga Lakmal, who made his international debut in 2009, received a guard of honour from his Sri Lanka teammates when he walked out of the ground after India’s second innings. Also, India head coach Rahul Dravid and former India captain Virat Kohli congratulated Suranga Lakmal as he walked out of the field for the last time in international cricket.

The performance of the right-arm pacer Lakmal in the pink-ball Test match against India was not an impressive one as he bowled 8 overs and picked just one wicket in India’s first innings and in India’s second innings he went wicketless after bowling 10 overs.

Also, other Sri Lanka bowlers struggled against the power-packed Indian batting unit, which resulted in Sri Lanka getting a huge target of 447 runs to chase in the pink-ball Test match to draw the series.
