Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) keeper Sheldon Jackson had an amazing day behind the stumps as he took a brilliant one-handed stunner to send back Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Sherfane Rutherford in a tightly fought contest of the 6^th match of the IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Rutherford had been the cornerstone of the RCB chase of a paltry target of 29 runs as the red army continuously lost wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 62/4 before Rutherford found an ally in Shahbaz Ahmed who took some risks, hitting three sixes in his 20-ball 27-run knock.

The burly left-handed West Indian had stuck it out there for 40 balls scoring 28 runs with 1 four and 1 six, seeing wickets falling at the other end.

Kolkata Knight Riders almost defended the 129-run target, which came mainly thanks to Andre Russell’s 25 and some contributions from Shreyas Iyer (13) and Sam Billings (14) after they were put in to bat by RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who won the toss. Wanindu Hasaranga picked 4/20, while Akash Deep picked 3/45 and Harshal Patel took 2/11.

Umesh Yadav gave the KKR team the perfect start in their defense as he removed Anuj Rawat for a duck and Virat Kohli for 12 runs. Tim Southee, who replaced Shivam Mavi in the KKR playing XI then accounted for captain Faf du Plessis for 5 runs.

Sunil Narine then got David Willey for 18, but KKR came back into the game with a short partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz Ahmed. Ahmed took full advantage of his promotion up the order and smacked three sixes in his knock.

It was up to Rutherford to take the RCB past the finish line, but Tim Southee got one to jag back off the pitch, and Jackson, despite being wrong-footed, dived to his right taking a one-handed catch near the ground.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik made 14* as he hit 2 sixes and one four taking the RCB to victory in the final over with 3 wickets to spare. Tim Southee picked 3/20, while Umesh Yadav took 2 wickets.
