Jaydev Unadkat did not feature in the first game that Rajasthan Royals played in their IPL 2021 and during the course of his first two overs against the Delhi Capitals, he has already proven his detractors wrong by nipping out both openers in Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan.
Having opted to bowl first, Rajasthan Royals desperately needed a good start against the likes of Shaw and Dhawan, and that is exactly what they got courtesy of Jaydev Unadkat.
Shaw and Dhawan had racked up a 138-run opening stand, one that laid a platform for an eventual seven-wicket win for the Delhi Capitals against Chennai Super Kings but the duo were found wanting against Jaydev Unadkat, who got the ball to swing in the powerplay.
Unadkat drew first blood in his first over when he deceived Prithvi Shaw with a slower delivery. Shaw, in an attempt to heave it to across the line, got a leading edge and proceeded to give a sitter to David Miller at point.
Unadkat struck again in his following over but this time wicketkeeper Sanju Samson played a huge role in giving him his second scalp.
Shikhar Dhawan, in an attempt to scoop Jaydev Unadkat over fine-leg, proceeded to get an edge, and Samson, like a Superman, took a one-handed stunner towards his right side.
At the time of writing, Jaydev Unadkat has struck another blow as he once again deceived a Delhi Capitals batsman, this time Ajinkya Rahane, with a slower delivery.
Rahane, who had danced down the track, was bamboozled by the lack of pace and he ended up giving a simple catch to the bowler.
