Watch: Mohammed Shami Cleans Up Cheteshwar Pujara And Hugs Him After Dismissing The Latter For A Duck

Veteran India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami dismissed veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara during the warm-up game between India and Leicestershire on Friday. After dismissing Pujara the pacer hugged him before he walked back to the dugout.

The warm-up match between Rohit Sharma-led India and Sam Evans-led Leicestershire began on June 23 at the Grace Road, Leicester. Notably, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant were playing for Leicestershire in the warm-up game.

While batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side were able to score 246 runs at the loss of 8 wickets before declaring the innings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Srikar Bharat top-scored for the Rohit Sharma-led side in the first innings as he scored 70 runs. Also, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma batted decently.

Mohammed Shami Cleans Up Cheteshwar Pujara For A Duck On Day 2

On Day 2 of the warm-up match, Pujara came out to bat after the dismissal of Leicestershire skipper Sam Evans, who was dismissed for 1 by Shami.

The 34-year-old batter Pujara was unable to survive for very long as he faced only 6 deliveries before being cleaned up by Shami for a duck.

After picking his second wicket of the innings, Shami was filled with joy and he started celebrating. He also ran towards Pujara, who was going back to the dugout, to give him a hug.

Meanwhile, Pujara was dropped from the Indian Test side ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home. After that, he played a few Ranji Trophy games before travelling to England for the County championship.

He performed exceptionally well for Sussex and smashed 4 consecutive centuries, including two double centuries. Overall, Pujara scored 720 runs in 5 matches to get his India recall.

The 5th and last Test match of the series between India and England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp, will be played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham from Friday, July 1.
