IND vs SL: Watch - Ravichandran Ashwin's Delivery Takes Rishabh Pant By Surprise, Loses Helmet In The Process

During the third day, an incident between Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant brought out smiles among the players, including opposition batter, Niroshan Dickwella.

The Indian players were having a wonderful time out in the middle, completely pulverizing Sri Lanka in the first Test in Mohali. The result of the match was a foregone conclusion after India piled up 574 on the board.

During the final moments of the game, Ashwin was in full flow, trying to finish the match off. It was a rather intense atmosphere but a funny incident proceeded to release the tension a little bit.

A tossed-up delivery from Ashwin bounced extremely high, taking Pant by surprise. His reflex action was to push his head back but he ended up losing his helmet in a comical fashion. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen having a bit of a laugh at Pant’s expense.

India secured the first Test by an innings and 222 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match Test series. Batting first, they piled on 574/8 with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 175* and Pant chipping in with a blistering 96.

In response, the Lankans were blown away for 174, once again Jadeja doing the damage by taking a 5-wicket haul. They were asked to follow on by Rohit and India needed just two more sessions to finish the game, bundling out their opponents for 178.

Jadeja took four more wickets in the second innings, ending the match with a 9-wicket haul. The second Test will take place in Bengaluru from March 12-16.
