Gujarat have received a boost ahead of their contest against Rajasthan as Parthiv Patel, team’s regular skipper, has joined the camp.

The left-handed batsman Parthiv was ruled out of the first three games of the tournament after he suffered a finger injury in South Africa.

The 31-year-old Parthiv suffered the injury on the fourth day of the third Test against South Africa while standing behind the wickets.

Priyank Panchal was given the captaincy duties in absence of Patel and the latter will now be taking over the charge from Panchal.

In his (Parthiv Patel) absence, Gujarat have played three games in the tournament where they have lost all the three contests.

The team would be hoping to get a win here and salvage some pride.

The chances of this team making it to the next round are almost over now.

The Parthiv Patel-led side will face Rajasthan in the next contest, who have to win this game so as to move ahead on the points table.

They have just one win in three matches and a defeat would jeopardize their hopes of making it to the next round of the tournament.

In Group A, Karnataka are sitting at the top of the table with two wins in three contests. Their today’s contest against Haryana was abandoned due to wet outfield.

Both the batsmen have scored 196 runs in three matches at an identical average of 65.33.

In the bowling department, Chintan Gaja is leading the charts with six wickets in three games.

Piyush Chawla is second on the list with five wickets alongside his name.

Gujarat team will continue to miss the services of Axar Patel, who is with the Indian in South Africa to play ODI and T20I series.
