Vijay Hazare Trophy, Semi Final 2 Review: Saurashtra Thrash Andhra to Qualify for Final

Saurashtra registered a comprehensive 59 runs victory in the 2nd Semifinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to enter the final of the tournament. They will meet Karnataka in the final of the competition 27th February, Tuesday. Match winning performance from Ravindra Jadeja eventually ensured Saurashtra stroll towards an easy victory.

The skipper of Andhra Pradesh Hanuman Vihari won the toss and put Saurashtra in. Saurashtra lost two early wickets in the form of Avi Barot and Chirag Jani. However opener Samarth Vyas played some delightful shots en route to his 46. However, two more quick wickets reduced them to 69/4. It also included the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara.

It was a great partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Aarpit Vasavada which got Saurashtra back on track. While Jadeja scored 56 of 51 deliveries which contained four fours and a six while Vasavada’s 59 balls 58 was studded with four fours and a couple of sixes. Prerak Mankad provided the much-needed late impetus which propelled Saurashtra to a score of 255. It was some quick wickets towards the end of the innings which prevented Saurashtra from scoring big.

Srikar Bharat began with a couple of exquisite drives. However, he couldn’t quite carry on his good work and was dismissed on 29. Hanuman Vihari also failed to convert his start and was dismissed on 25. Bodapadi Sumnath and DR Ravi Teja both scored 42. However, they could only muster 196 in the end, losing last six wickets for just 46 runs.

Dharmendra Singh Jadeja was the pick of bowlers for Saurashtra. He finished with 4/40 in his spell while Shauriya Sanandia also chipped in with a couple of wickets. They will be upbeat of performing well in the final against Karnataka slated to be played in a day’s time.
