Tamil Nadu camp is all set to miss the services of star bowler Ravichandran Ashwin for their fourth fixture of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017-18 season against Andhra Pradesh. The tie is slated to be held on February 11 (Sunday).

Off-spinner Ashwin is unavailable for the contest and he has already informed the team management about his unavailability.

The India Test specialist player Ashwin played the first four games of the tournament against Gujarat, Goa, Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh. He has performed well in the tournament till now as he has bagged seven wickets (does not include stats of the game against Madhya Pradesh).

He is also experimenting with his bowling during the tournament as he is practicing leg-spin on some occasions, an experiment which he is all set to continue in Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is placed at the fourth position in the points table with just one win in three games.

They won the opening game of the season against Gujarat but were then stunned by Goa in the second outing.

In the marquee clash against Mumbai, Tamil Nadu failed to defend a low-total of 183, which Mumbai only chased in the penultimate over of the game with just two wickets in hand.

Ashwin’s absence for the clash against Andhra Pradesh will surely be a big blow for the side as he has been the go-to man for the team in the tournament.

In other news, Tamil Nadu selectors have dropped Murali Vijay from the side for the remaining games of the tournament.

The prime reason for Vijay’s exclusion is his behaviour as he did not report at the ground on the morning of the game against Mumbai.

The right-handed batsman Vijay had a shoulder pain. He only reported about his unavailability to the team just a few hours before the start of the game, which left the team in all sorts of trouble.

Surely, TNCA might also take an action against the player soon.

Tamil Nadu will face Andhra Pradesh and Goa and in their last two league stage games of the season.
