Yuvraj Singh’s half-century in a rain-curtailed game against Baroda was not enough for Punjab to chase down a total of 168.

Overnight rain forced the game to be cut to 21 overs-a-side.

After gaining an advantage to bowl first, Punjab did well and in the very first over, Baroda lost two wickets at a score of four.

Wickets continued to tumble and by the end of seven overs, Baroda had already lost half-of-their-side on a score of 52.

Punjab couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and Vishnu Solanki, along with Swapnil Singh, pulled out their team out of a difficult position.

The duo shared 93-run stand for the sixth-wicket in just 69 balls to help their side come close to a total of 145.

In the last nine balls of the game, Baroda managed 22 runs – to set a target of 168 for Punjab.

Sandeep Sharma and Sidharth Kaul grabbed two and three wickets for Punjab respectively.

After coming into bat, Punjab again did not have a good start and lost the wicket of U19 rising star Shubman Gill (8) early.

Baroda made an immediate impact and apart from taking wickets, they also kept the flow of runs under check.

Though, Yuvraj continued alone for his side and tried to steer the team to the victory.

The left-handed batsman Yuvraj played a brilliant inning of 51 off 36 before being bowled by Atit Sheth.

Post Yuvraj Singh’s dismissal, the hopes of Punjab to win the game vanished and they were bowled out on 142.

Punjab lost the league contest by 25 runs.

Brief scores – Baroda 167/7 (Vikram Solanki 77*, Swapnil Singh 33; Siddharth Kaul 3-36) defeat Punjab 142/10 (Yuvraj Singh 51, Abhishek Gupta 17; Swapnil Singh 2-4) by 25 runs.
