Virat Kohli Amend the ODI Record Charts

Virat Kohli has been the cornerstone for Team India over the years. And there is no doubt about this. Giving him a tag of the mainstay of the team is not about boasting only, his statistics prove this.

While in most of the cases, the performance of a player comes into decline after taking the role of captaincy.  Kohli is an exception in most of the cases and in this scenario, he is a cut above the rest.

Captaincy has only helped Indian skipper, Kohli to take his game to the next level. In fact, as per statistics, his performance has been better after donning the thinking cap.

Records Tumble:

The breaking of records is not something new for this Delhi-based cricketer. In fact, many experts and pundits agree with that he was born just to break all records of the game.

In the third and decider of ODI against England, the crowd at Headingley in Leeds witnessed certain records which got tumbled on Tuesday (July 7).

Virat Kohli surpassed Mohammed Yousuf:

Kohli surpassed Pakistani batting legend, Mohammed Yousuf in runs tally. Yousuf has 9,270 runs in 273 matches and Kohli has now 9,779 runs after 203 matches.

The star completed 3,000 ODI runs as captain. He is fastest to 1000, 2000 and 3000 ODI runs respectively as a team leader. Kohli took just 49 innings to score 3000 runs. He surpassed his long-time friend, AB de Villiers, who had taken 60 – to score 3000 runs as skipper. He is also now at 13th spot among leading run scorers.

Kohli as ODI captain has scored 13 centuries besides 13 half-centuries respectively.

An unwanted record:

He also achieved an unwanted record in this career. Surprisingly, Kohli got out only to spinners in this series.

The mode of his dismissals; stumped, followed by LBW while as in the 3rd ODI and decider of the series he was completely outfoxed by leg-spinner Adil Rashid. He got clean bowled in this match.

It is the first time since 2014, Virat Kohli has got out to spinners in three consecutive ODI Innings.
