Team India skipper Virat Kohli expressed his disappointment at spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin after the top class spinner gave away a simple boundary to Dean Elgar despite troubling him on a consistent basis before that. It was a juicy full toss, and Elgar swept it brilliantly, and the ball ran off to the fence. Kohli immediately made gestures towards Ashwin and indicated to keep continuing bowling outside the off stump.

It is not the first time that the Indian skipper has been vocal on the field. Even in the past, we have seen Kohli showing his discontentment towards his player whenever something has not gone according to plan. Meanwhile, it must be noted that Ashwin was the most successful Indian bowler during the 1st innings of the 2nd Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion returning with figures of 4/113.

Now coming back to the match, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. The innings was largely built on a sensational and stroke-filled 94 by opener Aiden Markram while Hashim Amla also chipped in with a useful half-century. From a strong position, the Proteas lost a few wickets in quick intervals which stalled their progress and was eventually bowled out for 335.

The onus was now on the Indian batters to take the visitors to a comfortable position. Captain Virat Kohli smashed his 21st Test century as India came within touching distance of the South African total before falling short by 28 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with a useful knock of 38 and India was bowled out for 307 thus surrendering a 28 runs lead to the Proteas.

In the 2nd innings, it was Jasprit Bumrah who bagged a couple of quick wickets to reduce to 3/2, but it was AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar who started resurrecting the innings and when the article was written South Africa was 90/2 in 28.4 overs and had an overall lead of 118 runs.
