Team India skipper Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are celebrating their first New Year Day together as married couples. The couple is currently in South Africa where India will take on the Proteas in a full-fledged series which kick starts with the three-Test series, starting January 5 in Cape Town.
After a courtship of almost three years, the couple got married in a private affair but have not shied away from being in public since then. From sharing wedding photos and honeymoon pictures, the newlyweds have set the social media abuzz in the last few weeks. Recently, they hosted a couple of wedding receptions in Delhi and Mumbai respectively before jetting off to South Africa.
And just when the dust was settling down, Kohli took to Twitter to post another beautiful selfie with his wife, wishing everyone in the New year.
“Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New year. Love and light to all. 🙏😇,” the India batting star wrote.

The actress will reportedly return to India after spending the new year with Kohli before the latter focuses on the upcoming Test series. Kohli, who is yet to lose a Test series as skipper, did not play in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka is perhaps short on match-practise but is confident of switching back to the game from the mini-break without any problem.
“I was away for something (marriage) which is much more important. That is a period that will always remain special for both of us,” he had said in Mumbai before the team’s departure to South Africa.
“Switching back to cricket is not difficult at all because it is in my blood, like it is for every other team member and the team management as well, so getting back to professional front is not difficult at all.
“I haven’t done anything in the past three weeks. I have been training to get back to play in South Africa. Somewhere in your head you are always thinking about you have something important coming up, so subconsciously you are looking forward to it (South Africa tour). So, mentally I am very well prepared,” he had added.
India is yet to win a Test series in South Africa in the past six attempts and Kohli will be keen to lead his number one team to a historic series win.
