Virat Kohli Back In The Nets Ahead Of The First Test Against Bangladesh - Watch

After emerging victorious from a cut-throat T20I series against Bangladesh, India will don the whites to take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. The first of the two-Test series begins at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on November 14 (Thursday). India will also play their inaugural day and night Test in the second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Post the rest from the shortest format, batting maestro and the regular Indian captain Virat Kohli was back in the nets.

The BCCI, from their social media handle, posted a video on Twitter of Virat hitting the nets, playing some pleasing and confident shots. Similar to limited-overs cricket, the 31-year old has also stamped his authority in Test cricket. In the three-fixture series against South Africa, Kohli slammed the seventh double-hundred of his Test career in the second Test in Pune.

One could witness the batting genius scale some new records in the upcoming Test series. Not only as a batsman, but Virat Kohli has been instrumental as a leader as well. His aggressive captaincy has transformed the Indian side into a world-class Test team, having not lost a Test series at home under his reign. India last lost a home Test series to Alastair Cook-led England way back in 2012.

The Indian captain is on the brink of overhauling Sourav Ganguly as the sixth-highest run-getter for team India. Ganguly, who played 113 Tests in his career, has amassed 7212 runs at an average of 42.17. Virat Kohli, who is one of the most prolific run-scorers even in Test cricket, has piled up 7066 runs in 54 games at an average of 54.77. Presently, the Indian skipper sits at number two in ICC Test rankings, behind the Australian run-machine Steve Smith.

The only Test played till date at the Holkar Stadium in Indore was India locking horns against New Zealand in 2016. The hosts had a phenomenal outing, having scored a win over the Kiwis on the back of Kohli’s double-hundred and Rahane’s innings of 188. Ravichandran Ashwin was named man of the match for his 13 wickets across two innings.
