India skipper Virat Kohli lost his cool in the ongoing second ODI against New Zealand thanks to a blunder from umpire Bruce Oxenford. It all happened when Yuzvendra Chahal trapped New Zealand opener Henry Nicholls in front of the wicket.

India were desperately searching for their first breakthrough in the do-or-die game when Yuzvendra Chahal struck. Oxenford raised his finger after Chahal and his teammates appealed for an lbw before the drama unfolded. Nicholls, who had scored an impressive fifty in the previous game, decided to challenge the umpire’s decision.

However, he exceeded the time limit of 15 seconds to take the review. But to everyone’s utter surprise, Oxenford decided to allow Nicholls to go for the review and not very surprisingly, Virat Kohli was unimpressed with the turn of events. The India skipper walked up to the umpire straightaway and expressed his frustration. He was seen having an animated discussion as he expressed his displeasure over Nicholls being allowed to review the decision even though he had exceeded the time limit.

Nicholls tried to sweep the ball but the leg-spin turned in sharply and went on to hit the batsman on his pads.

The fans, meanwhile, came out in support of Virat Kohli and slammed the umpire for his decision. Here are some of the reactions:

At the time of compiling this report, New Zealand were 176 for 5 after 35 overs. Last match’s centurion Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme were batting.
