Team India skipper Virat Kohli has given an update on his injury and said he is working very hard to recover in time for India’s tour of Ireland and England.

Virat suffered an injury during the 51st match of the recently concluded against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is doing his best to be fit. Kohli sustained the injury while attempting to take a catch. He went on to play Bangalore’s must-win clash against Rajasthan Royals. However, RCB’s loss meant he didn’t have to play the rest of the tournament.

Later it was further confirmed he had been ruled out for a substantial amount of time. The injury also ruled Kohli out of the county stint with Surrey. He was slated to play three first-class, and three List A matches for Surrey in June.

However, his dream of playing county cricket will take more time get realised. It might well turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Kohli ahead of the gruelling tour of England. He needed sufficient rest, especially after the IPL.

Kohli will undergo a fitness test on 15th June to determine whether he can take part in the T20I series against Ireland. The fitness will get conducted at the NCA in Bangalore.

It will eventually decide his availability for the limited-overs series in June and July. Meanwhile, it must be noted that Kohli will already miss the one-off Test against Afghanistan, starting June 16th in Bengaluru.

Taking to his twitter handle, Kohli shared a video where he gave an update of his condition to his fans.

“Hey guys, a lot of hard work is going on. The rehab is on and just doing what I can do best and what I am allowed to do at the moment. Hard work is the only way, and hard work always pays off,” Kohli said.

If Kohli is ruled out from the limited-overs series against Ireland and England, it will be a massive blow to the team. He is India’s best batsman across all three formats, and his absence might turn out to be very crucial.

If that’s the case, Rohit Sharma will take up the job of leading the team.

The Men in Blue plays Ireland in two T20I’s on 27th and 29th June. It will be followed by a three-match ODI and T20I series against England.

It will start on 3rd July. Meanwhile, the 1st of the five-match Test series against England will begin from 1st August.
