Virat Kohli 610 runs

At a time when everyone is finding it tough to find the right adjective for the red-hot Virat Kohli, former England batsman Michael Vaughan has perhaps come up with the perfect term. Vaughan called the India skipper a freak after the 29-year old slammed his 20th Test century in the ongoing third Test against Sri Lanka in Delhi.

Kohli entered the game after scoring 104 and 213 in he first two Tests and continued the same form in Delhi too. The right-handed batsman looked in sublime touch right from the word go and scored his fastest Test fifty, achieving the milestone in just 52 balls. He continued his scintillating form and took just 110 balls to reach his century. In the process, he once again achieved a plethora of milestones.

He surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (107) to become the second fastest Indian batsman to score 20 hundreds in Test cricket. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar heads the list having reached the milestone in just 93 innings while Kohli got there in his 105th innings. Kohli also became the quickest to score 52 international centuries across formats, achieving the feat in his 350th innings to beat South African Hashim Amla‘s record of 378 innings.
He also went past 5000 Test runs in the same match today to become the fourth-quickest Indian to achieve the feat in his 105th innings.

And such was the impression of his knock that Vaughan took some time off his interactions on Twitter regarding the ongoing Ashes Test to post a brilliant message for the Indian batting star.

“Btw … @imVkohli is a freak … Best player in the World … #DifferentLevel,” Vaughan tweeted

Meanwhile, India finished day one of the last Test on a commanding 371 for 4 with Kohli unbeaten on 156. Another double century would help Kohli to surpass the great Brian Lara to become the skipper with most double centuries. As of now, Kohli is level with Lara with 5 double centuries.
