India’s young pacer Deepak Chahar was all praise for his skipper Virat Kohli after the latter’s match-winning knock in the second T20I against South Africa. Virat Kohli led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 72 as India chased down 149 with utmost ease. With the win, India took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

India lost their batting mainstay Rohit Sharma for just 12. But before South Africa could make inroads in the game, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan shared a fifty-plus stand to put India on top. Dhawan and then Rishabh Pant departed in quick success. However, Virat Kohli remained till the end to take the team home with one over remaining.

Following the game, Deepak Chahar lavished praise on Virat Kohli, calling him a “next level player”.

“I don’t know how Virat bhaiya (brother) manages to score these many runs and that too with such consistency. He is a next-level player,” Deepak Chahar said at the post-match press-conference.

Meanwhile,. wth his latest knock, Virat Kohli added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. He surpassed his teammate Rohit Sharma to become the leading run-scorer in the T20Is. Virat Kohli now has seven runs more than Rohit in the shortest format of the game.

Chahar further said that he is not thinking too much about the T20 World Cup next year and is just focused on the present.

“It is still one year for the World Cup and I do not think far too ahead. I take every match as my last match. At this time, Indian cricket is at the top and if you want to find a spot, you will have to do very good and that too, in every match because there is a lot of competition,” he said.

The third T20I between India and South Africa will be played on September 22 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
