Virat Kohli Needs To Bring Back The Two Wrist-Spinners In T20Is - Sourav Ganguly

Team India have revamped their spin department in the Twenty20 format of the game as they look to find their best combinations for the World T20 next year in Australia. As a result, they have kept out the wrist-spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. However, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly feels Virat Kohli needs to bring back two of them in the reckoning.

On the back of consistent impressive returns in the last few years, Kuldeep and Chahal became a force to reckon with for team India. They formed a great pair and helped India win crucial games on abroad. While Kuldeep Yadav has been one of the highest wicket-takers in T20Is since the 2016 Word T20, Yuzvendra Chahal has turned out to be the match-winner for Kohli.

But since the World Cup, Kuldeep and Chahal have not been a part of the limited-overs set-up in any of the series India have played so far. Instead, the management has preferred trying out different options. While they have persisted with Rahul Chahar as the leg-spinner, Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja have been the left-arm spinning options. All-rounder Washington Sundar is the only off-spinning option as India look to strengthen their batting department.

But former India skipper Sourav Ganguly urged current captain Virat Kohli to bring back the two wrist-spinners in the T20I format. He also feels that there is no need for India to field two left-arm spinners.

 “Virat needs to bring back the wrist spinners into this format. I hope Yuzvendra Chahal has only been rested to give the opportunity to others or else he is a must for India in the T20 format. India doesn’t need two left-arm spinners,” Ganguly wrote in TOI.

With only 12 months to go for the World T20 in Australia, India will be desperate to settle their combination as they look to bring home the title for the first time since 2007.
