Watch: Virat Kohli In Nets Again After Wedding

It did not take long for Virat Kohli to get over his marriage hangover as the India skipper started doing what he does best – batting. The 29-year old took a mini-break from cricket, missing the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka to tie the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Anushka Sharma.

The couple got married in Italy on December 11 and recently hosted two receptions. But as soon as the parties and ceremonies ended, the right-handed batsman started preparing for the challenging tour of South Africa.

Even in the pre-departure conference, Kohli had said the mini-break would not affect his batting and that he would not find any difficulty in switching back to the game.

“I was away for something (marriage) which is much more important. That is a period that will always remain special for both of us,” he had said in Mumbai before the team’s departure to South Africa.

“Switching back to cricket is not difficult at all because it is in my blood, like it is for every other team member and the team management as well, so getting back to professional front is not difficult at all.

“I haven’t done anything in the past three weeks. I have been training to get back to play in South Africa. Somewhere in your head you are always thinking about you have something important coming up, so subconsciously you are looking forward to it (South Africa tour). So, mentally I am very well prepared,” he had added.

And well, looking at the latest video of the India batting star practising in the nets, one can only say that cricket is really in his blood as despite being away from the game for a while, he was seen middling the ball beautifully ahead of the first Test.

The first Test will start on January 5 in Capetown as India will be eyeing a strong start to the tour. The team is yet to lose a series under Kohli, having registered nine consecutive series wins and speculations are high that the current side can end India’s long wait for the maiden series win in the African country.
