Indian captain Virat Kohli is on the cusp of breaking another record of his idol Sachin Tendulkar. In fact, Kohli has made it his good habit of breaking all the records in the folklore of the game. Kohli had recently become the fastest batsman to get to the landmark of 10,000 ODI runs. The Indian talisman took only 205 innings to scale down the mountain of runs.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar had taken 259 innings to get to the milestone of 10,000 runs. Thus, Kohli took 54 innings less than the Master Blaster.

Consequently, Virat Kohli has continued with his penchant of breaking and creating new annals in the game. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar has the record of scoring most hundreds in a calendar year. The former legendary batsman had scored 12 centuries in the year of 1998 when he was at the peak of his career. This record of Sachin Tendulkar has been intact for the last 20 years.

Even the best batsmen of past generation or the current ones haven’t come close to breaking this record. Former greats like Brian Lara, Kumar Sangakkara, Rahul Dravid, and Ricky Ponting could not come close to the record.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has completed 1000 runs in ODI format in the year 2018. Kohli has scored 10 hundred in the ODI and Test version of the game in 2018. Thus, Kohli has three T20Is and three Test matches in 2018 to leapfrog Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Given Kohli’s present form where he is scoring hundreds for fun, the Indian captain looks all set to break Sachin’s record. However, Virat Kohli is yet to score a century in the shortest format of the game. Kohli has the best score of 90 in the T20I cricket, which had come against Australia.

Kohli had scored 453 runs in the five-match series against the Windies. Thus, Kohli was adjudged the Man of the series. Kohli will look to continue his sublime form on the Australian tour.
