Indian skipper Virat Kohli is likely to consider disassociation with the Punjab National Bank (PNB), as a brand ambassador. Meanwhile, PNB roped in Kohli as the brand ambassador in 2016. Currently, the financial institution got entangled in a fraud case with a businessman known as Nirav Modi.

Previously, PNB made Kohli the face of their bank in order to reach to the masses. Earlier, the bank was hit due to rising bad loans. Kohli is known to be an account holder of PNB at the age of 16. Further, he also came up with a tagline, “PNB is Mera Apna Bank.”

Kohli to consider his ties with PNB:

A source close to Kohli admitted that he will not want to remain associated with a brand that can hamper him.

For a few days now, Punjab National Bank’s scam has grabbed headlines and it’s obvious that Virat who is the face of the brand feels that he should walk away from them. Like any other celebrity, even Virat would not like to be a face of the brand which has been in a negative light,” the source said.

Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni also came out of his contract with Amrapali Group. The brand was accused of delays in construction projects and several other complaints.

Today PNB is seen as a complete universal bank. Virat Kohli, an energetic young sportsman having mass appeal to the youth of our country has been chosen as the brand ambassador who comes with qualities like determination, focus and for whom winning is a habit,” PNB’s official statement said back then.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra have already decided to take legal guidance and quit Nirav Modi’s jewellery brand as the brand ambassador.

However, Kohli is currently in South Africa leading the India team in T20I. India is leading the three-match series 1-0 and is looking well in line to seal the series. India will play the second match of the series on Wednesday in Centurion.

On a personal note, Virat Kohli has had a tremendous ODI series scoring 550 runs including three tons. He also became the first batsman to score more than 500 runs in a bilateral series of 5 or 7 ODIs.
