Virat Kohli Reveals Biggest Threat For India In Australian Team

Ahead of the first T20I against Australia, India skipper Virat Kohli has revealed the player he thinks would be the biggest threat for the hosts.

Virat Kohli has called out in-form allrounder Marcus Stoinis as India’s biggest threat in the Australian squad. is fast emerging as one of Australia’s best players. He was one of their top-performers last year in ODIs.  He finished 2018 as Australia’s third-top run-scorer with 376 runs, scoring four fifties with a top score of 87. He was also Australia’s leading ODI wicket-taker, picking up 13 wickets. Recently, he bagged the Australian ODI player of the year award at the 2019 Australian Cricket Awards.

Stoinis is also entering the series on the back of a stunning campaign in the Big Bash League. He piled up 533 runs at a stunning average of 53.30 in addition to picking up 14 wickets.  He played a crucial role in Melbourne Stars’ victorious campaign this season.

“We obviously expect a stiff competition overall from the Australian team but if I had to single out one player that can make more impact that would be Marcus Stoinis,” Virat Kohli told reporters.

“He’s come around really well during the BBL and he’s making standout performances on a consistent basis. You can see he’s grown in confidence and he’s definitely going to be a very important player for them,” added Kohli who will share the dressing room with Stoinis in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League.

India, meanwhile, are the favourites to win the series-opener in Vizag.  Not only form but the numbers are also in India’s form. India have been dominant against Australia over the years in T20Is. So far, India have won 11 of the 19 T20Is they have played against Australia. On the other hand, Australia have won only six, with two games being abandoned due to rain.
