The Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the new opening Test batsman Rohit Sharma missed the practice session on Thursday at Ranchi. However, the head coach Ravi Shastri made sure other boys in the squad attend the practice session to get knowledge of the conditions of Ranchi pitch.

However, both the individuals will not get any remark from the management, as it was just an optional practice session. Meanwhile, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara sweat it out in the nets. It seems like the management is looking to horn the skills of Kuldeep, who batted well in the net session.

Apart from Rahane and Pujara, Mayank Agarwal also batted for a long time in a net session. The head coach Ravi Shastri and the bowling coach Bharat Arun was present in the practice sessions.

Speaking of the conditions, Ravi Shastri and Bharat Arun felt that the conditions in Ranchi would suit the spinners with dry wicket on the offer. Indicating the same, recently, Faf du Plessis also felt that spinners might get great assistance alongside reverse swing for the fast bowlers.

“I think wicket will spin. I looked at the pitch and it looks dry and crusty. So I think reverse swing and spin will play a factor in this Test match,” South African captain Faf du Plessis had said.

Meanwhile, Proteas trained in the morning session with a focus on their batsmen. South Africa’s training was attended by skipper Faf Du Plessis, Temba Bavuma, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock, Senuran Muthuswamy as they faced the net bowlers.
