It is not a new thing for Virat Kohli to break a record in the game of cricket. He already has numerous records written in his name. Now, the flamboyant batsman is once again standing on the verge of breaking a massive record in T20I form when the Indian National Cricket Team locks horns with the Kieron Pollard-led side at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

The skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team needs to score six runs to reach 1000 runs in India. If Virat Kohli reaches the mark, he will become the first Indian batsman to score 1000 runs on his home soil. Overall, he will become the third player to score 1000 runs in a single country.

Virat Kohli stands a chance to become the fastest to reach the mark:

Earlier, it was Martin Guptill and Colin Munro, who achieved the feat. Virat Kohli, who has scored 994 runs in 28 innings stands a chance to become the fastest to the mark as both the New Zealand batters had achieved the feat in their 31st innings.

In the second T20I, he surpassed Rohit Sharma to become the leading run-scorer in T20I form of the game. Before heading into the second T20I match, Virat Kohli was three runs behind his deputy. Rohit Sharma, who opened the innings, extended the difference to 18 runs. However, Virat Kohli scored 19 runs to achieve the feat.

On the other hand, his deputy Rohit Sharma is just one maximum away from reaching the milestone of 400 international sixes across formats. The senior cricketer has hit 399 sixes in his international career so far (232 in ODIs, 52 in Tests and 115 in T20Is).  He will become the first Indian to achieve this mark.
