However, it wasn’t to be as India lost by 5 wickets. England batter Alex Hales played a stunning knock which ensured England reached the target of 149 in the final over of the match with just a couple of deliveries to spare. Dhoni scored a fluent 32 of just 24 deliveries as India posted a score of 148 in their allotted 20 overs.

Dhoni is still a force to reckon with

The former skipper has been one of the greatest skippers in the world ever. He still remains the only skipper worldwide to lead his nation to victories in 3 major ICC events which includes the World Twenty20, World Cup and the Champions Trophy. His reflexes and form with the bat have diminished considerably. However, he is still an integral part of the Indian limited overs side.

During the IPL he showed all and sundry that he is still far from finished. He scored more than 400 runs and smashed nearly 30 sixes in the process. The old Vintage Dhoni was back in action. India will be hopeful of the fact that Dhoni manages to replicate his heroics in the World Cup slated to be held in England and Wales next year.
