Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan Has Their Say on Virat Kohli's 'Leave India' Comment

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan and opener Virender Sehwag had their say on Virat Kohli’s “leave India” comment. The Indian skipper had to face the backlash after his controversial comment. In fact, it was one of the poorest shots played by Virat Kohli in the recent past which obviously was not applauded by the crowd.

However, Virat Kohli gave his reasoning after the controversial leave India comment. Kohli said that these Indians in the comment had irked him and asked his fans to take it easy.  Since then, Kohli has been slammed for his out of the box statement. Former players have also had their say on the controversial statement.

Kohli was slammed.

Zaheer Khan said fans and Virat Kohli have equal right of speech.

The former fast bowler said while talking to Aaj Tak, Fans and Virat Kohli have equal freedom of speech. India is a democratic country and everybody has freedom of speech. Even the clarification Virat gave it came because he wanted to clearly state his feelings on the matter”.

On the other hand, Virender Sehwag said these incidents are spurred on by the media. However, Sehwag said everyone has the right to pick their favorite player irrespective of the country.

“Everybody has the right to speak. We have also been asked who our favorite player is and I have taken names like Roger Federer, Brian Lara, and Adam Gilchrist. Fans have the right to choose their favorite player and so do the players. Only the media blows up incidents like this and creates controversies,” Virender Sehwag said.

There is nothing Virat Kohli can do wrong on the field. However, the Indian captain should be more guile in his choice of words while tackling a tricky question off the field.

Cricket is my first love. I want to be a wordsmith. I want to weave magic with my words.
