The middle-order batsman played some fine cricket to help India to cross the 400+ landmark. Mitchell Johnson bagged a fifer and helped the Kangaroos to take a lead of 23 runs in the second essay.

Moreover, the pacers along with the spinner rattled the Aussies batting order in quick time and they managed to score 190 runs in the second essay. India needs to score 216 runs to win the first match of the tournament.

Furthermore, Indian fourth innings specialist VVS Laxman kept himself calm along with Ishant Sharma. The duo added the 81-run stand for the ninth wicket to take India closer toward the target. Meanwhile, Hilfenhaus struck again trapping Sharma lbw to make things more interesting. Suresh Raina was running for Laxmana and there were a few moments of nervousness on the field.

India needs another 11 runs to win the match after Ishant Sharma departs. Then there was a close lbw shout off Mitchell Johnson was turned down by umpire Billy Bowden. VVS Laxman and Pragyan Ojha took the two winning runs and there was some sparkling moment in the Indian camp.
