Wasim Jaffer First to Score More Than 1000 Runs Twice in Ranji Trophy

India’s domestic giant Wasim Jaffer has become the first batsman to score more than 1000 runs twice in the Ranji Trophy. Jaffer has surpassed the 1000 run mark while playing for the defending champions Vidharbha in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2018-19. The flamboyant batsman had scored 1260 runs while playing for Mumbai in the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy season.

The stylish right-hander had scored 1260 runs at an average of 84 in 16 innings. Wasim Jaffer has been a big player while playing in the domestic circuit. He has played the last two seasons for Vidharbha and used to play for Mumbai in the previous editions.

On the other hand, the right-hander has played 251 First Class matches. Jaffer has amassed a total of 19,079 runs in 409 innings. He has the best score of 314 runs at an impressive average of 51.42. The right-handed batsman has scored 57 hundred and 88 half-centuries in his domestic career. In fact, Jaffar doesn’t even take his fees from the Vidharbha team.

Wasim Jaffer also played 31 Test matches for the Indian team. The right-hander scored 1944 runs at an average of 34.10 while opening the innings for the India National Cricket Team. The talisman scored five centuries and 11 fifties in his career.

Jaffer scored 34 runs in the first innings of the ongoing semifinal contest against Kerala. Vidharbha is currently leading by 53 runs. Kerala was skittled out for 106 runs in the first dig. India’s fast bowler Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped seven wickets.

Yadav took his best bowling figures in the domestic circuit and bowled with fire. Furthermore, Rajneesh Gurbani took three wickets in the first essay.

Vidharbha’s captain Faiz Fazal scored a good knock of 71 runs. Thus, the reigning champions are looking good to make their way into the final for the second time in a row.
