The much-awaited ongoing India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup was billed as the game of the tournament. However, at least for the time being, the game has failed to live up to its billing. India is thoroughly dominating their arch-rivals with the ball.

Sarfraz Ahmed’s decision to bat first backfired as Bhuvneshwar Kumar destroyed their top-order by accounting for their openers cheaply. He first sent back Imam-ul-Haq for 2 before sending back red-hot Fakhar Zaman for a duck.

However, Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam managed to stop the rot. Although the runs were not coming at a good pace, they ensured that the Men in Green do not lose wickets in cluster.  But just when it looked the duo is set for a big stand, Kuldeep Yadav delivered. The chinaman spinner castled Azam to end the 82-run stand. 11 runs later, Kedar Jadhav accounted for Sarfraz to leave Pakistan reeling at 96 for 4.

And any hopes of scoring a big total took a further hit when their set batsmen Malik was run out for 43. Asif Ali pushed a Jadhav delivery into the off-side and Malik wanted to steal a single. Asif Ali, on the other end, did not want the single and sent back Malik. But before Malik could get back to his crease, a brilliant direct throw from Ambati Rayudu caught him short of his crease.

Meanwhile, both the teams have already made it to the super four after winning their opening games against Hong Kong. However, the wins were pretty much contrasting. While Pakistan made light work of Hong Kong, India were given a run for their money by the minnows. But eventually, the Men in Blue managed to win the game by 26 runs.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
