Indian National Cricket team player Cheteshwar Pujara had a stellar summer as he guided his side to their first-ever series win in Australia. Meanwhile, soon after landing in India, Pujara has featured for his stateside Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.

Cheteshwar Pujara returned with 521 runs at an average of 74 including three half-centuries which got him the man of the series award.  He scored a beautiful hundred in the first Test steading the ship for his side after India lost a few wickets early on. Although he failed to score big in Perth, Pujara bounced back in the next two Tests to score two more centuries to finish the series on a high.

Pujara, meanwhile, returned to the Saurashtra in the quarterfinal clash against Uttar Pradesh. After failing in the first innings, he played an unbeaten knock of 67 runs to see his side home. Currently, he is plying his trade in the ongoing semifinal clash against Karnataka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

After opting to bat first, Karnataka managed to post only 275 runs after an early collapse. The middle-order came good to bail the side out after Jaydev Unadkat wrecked havoc with the new ball.

However, an unexpected event folded on day two of the semifinal clash when Cheteshwar Pujara came to bat. Early in his innings, he survived a clear deflection as the umpire failed to recognise it.

It was a cracker of a delivery fro Abhimanyu Mithun as he pitched it short and got the ball to shape away late. On the way to the keeper, it caught Pujara’s glove on. Srinivas Sharath took it with glee, but the umpire cut-shorts Karnataka’s celebrations. It was a clear deflection, and the umpire failed to spot it as Pujara got a life early on.
