Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya hasn’t played for the national side since September 2019. However, he looks on track to mark a triumphant return to the Indian colours as the swashbuckling batsman prepared for the same by clobbering 38 off 25 deliveries in the DY Patil Cup against Bank of Baroda. Along with Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar prepared themselves to return to the fold.

The Baroda all-rounder was all set to play in the latter part of the New Zealand tour, having successfully recovered from the surgery he underwent in the United Kingdom in October 2019. The games against New Zealand A were supposed to be his preliminary preparations before pulling out of it since he hadn’t been entirely in shape.

Having lost Shikhar Dhawan and Vishnu Solanki for 14 and 5 respectively, his side needed a partnership going for them. Pandya walked at number four to share a stand of 53 along with Saurabh Tiwary. The 26-year old’s knock of 38 included a four and four massive sixes, having strolled out at 38-2.

He particularly went ballistic on spin-bowler Varun Sood whom he smashed for four sixes. His breezy knock ended with him getting caught at long-on. The 26-year old also bagged three wickets later with the ball in hand to follow up his blistering innings. As the Indian Premier League and the ODIs against South Africa looming, the management of both sides would inevitably be closely tracking his progress.
