Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan and their former skipper, has finally given his statement on the dastardly Pulwama attack. On Thursday, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded. The bus was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Lethpora town, about 30 km from Srinagar when the attack took place. The entire nation is in a state of shock as well as furious following the gruesome attack.

But despite the Pakistan-based group taking responsibility of the attack and also releasing a video for the same, Imran Khan, just like his predecessors, claimed otherwise. The cricketer-turned politician showed his true colours and completely denied Pakistan’s involvement in the attack. He also said that the Indian government is trying to cash in with the anti-Pakistan campaign ahead of the general elections before warning that Pakistan would attack if India start the war.

“I know it’s a poll season in India. If India will attack us we will surely retaliate. It is easy to start a war but difficult to end. The issue should be solved through dialogue,” Imran Khan said in his statement.

“India has blamed Pakistan without any proof. Pakistan has nothing to gain from this attack. Pakistan is moving towards peace and stability. This is new Pakistan and new thinking that doesn’t support terrorism,” he added.

Meanwhile, there is widespread call to boycott Pakistan from every sector and cricket has followed suit too. On Sunday, IMG-Reliance pulled out of its deal to produce television coverage of the ongoing Pakistan Super League worldwide.  Before that, DSport, which was broadcasting the game in India, had also stopped the coverage.

In other show of protests, Cricket Club of India had covered the portrait of former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan in its restaurant. On Sunday, the PCA stadium in Mohali had removed the pictures of the Pakistani players. There are also calls to boycott the game against Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup.
