Hours after young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant teased and issued a warning to his idol MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah also followed suit. The Mumbai Indians pacer, however, did not warn Dhoni but Team India skipper Virat Kohli for the showdown in the forthcoming Indian Premier League.  The excitement for the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League is on the rise after the release of the schedule.

Last week, the BCCI released the schedule of the first 17 games while the whole schedule is still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates.Once the election date is announced, the BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.

This is the first time the IPL is being held entirely in India despite the elections. In 2009, the BCCI had shifted the whole tournament to South Africa. Five years later, the initial part of the tournament was played in UAE before returning to India.

According to the released schedule, a total of 17 matches will be played during this 2 weeks period across the 8 home venues of the respective franchises. All teams will play minimum of 4 matches with Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore playing 5 matches.

And as the IPL draws near, Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the tournament, are taking all possible measures to build up the excitement. In their latest advertisement, Jasprit Bumrah could be seen firing a warning to Kohli. The right-arm pacer said in order to become the best bowler in the world, he will have to dismiss Kohli – the best batsman in the world.

“World ka best bowler? Nehi yaar. Abhi toh world ke best batsman ke dande udana baaki he. Aa raha hu Cheeku bhaiya aur iss baar, aap meri team mein bhi nahin rahenge. (World’s best bowler? Not yet. I still have to dismiss the best batsman in the world. Virat Kohli, I am coming, and this time I an not even part of your team.),” said Bumrah in the video.

The tussle between Bumrah and Kohli in IPL is an interesting one. In 2013, Bumrah had dismissed Kohli to claim his first IPL wicket. Prior to dismissing Kohli, Bumrah was hit for three consecutive boundaries by the Royal Challengers Bangalore star. Since then, Bumrah is yet to get rid of his India teammate.
