For a bowler who managed to take up only 9 wickets in nine years for Maharashtra and West Zone,  Kedar Jadhav‘s success at the highest stage of the game has left everyone quite surprised. A middle-order batsman who can also keep the wickets occasionally, Jadhav had bowled only 110.5 overs in 242 matches across his first-class, List A and T20 career before being handed the ball by Team India for the first time.

And surprisingly, he has repaid the faith almost every time. In his very first game with the ball, he had dismissed Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Corey Anderson. Recently, when Virat Kohli & Co. were looking clueless against David Warner and Aaron Finch in the fourth game of the recently-concluded series, Kohli gave Jadhav the ball and the latter ended up dismissing Warner for 124 to end the mammoth 231-run stand.

Not surprisingly, many still don’t know how Jadhav manages to pick up crucial wickets with his sidearm action and the Maharashtra star is also included in that list. In a recent interview with Michael Clarke on bcci.tv, Jadhav said:  “Trust me; I really don’t know how I get my wickets. I’m just happy that I do my job whenever the captain asks me to. It has helped my batting as well, and I am more confident because of my bowling.”

Well, it seems by the time the batsmen finally manage to decode his bowling, he will be able to add many more scalps to his kitty which already has 16 wickets with the latest victim being Australia skipper Steve Smith in the fifth and final ODI.

Jadhav also opened up on his game plan when he comes to bat.

“I’ve always persisted with my natural games to play shots. Since the time I’ve come to the international stage, I take some time before playing my shots. I wait for 10-15 deliveries before doing so.” said Jadhav.
