While Kieron Pollard’s batting and bowling have definitely not been up to the mark in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, his fielding has remained top-notched. And the Mumbai Indians star, on Wednesday, gave another glimpse of his excellent fielding skills by pulling off arguably the catch of the season so far in the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings.

Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians managed to score 170 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. The three-time champions were reeling at 50 for 3 before Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty and a 13-ball 45-run stand between Pollard and Hardik Pandya helped them put up a good total. Krunal Pandya also played an impressive knock of 42.

With Super Kings in good form, Mumbai Indians needed a good start and their bowlers duly obliged. Jason Behrendorff sent back Ambati Rayudu in the very first over of the innings. Lasith Malinga then accounted for Shane Watson to reduce Super Kings to 6 for 2. Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav then stopped the rot for a while. But just when it looked like they had their eyes set, Pollard pulled off a breathtaking catch to send back Raina for 16.

Behrendorff bowled one short and wide, inviting Raina to go for the shot. Rohit Sharma had already positioned a fielder at sweeper cover and Raina fell for it. However, Pollard should be given credit for executing the plan. Raina slashed the wide short ball with Pollard waiting for it.  Pollard then made a timely jump and pulled off a single-handed stunner while being airborne.
