Manoj Tiwary was one of the few names who went unsold in the recently-concluded auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was baffling to see the Bengal star going unsold in the auction since he is one of the most consistent batsmen in domestic circuit in the last one decade or so. He has proven himself in IPL too.

Manoj Tiwary was an integral part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that won the IPL in 2012. In 2017, the batsman had played a key role in Rising Pune Supergiant’s run to the final. He scored 324 runs, including two half-centuries, in 15-matches for the Steve Smith-led, now-defunct side. But in 2018, he managed  only 47 runs from five matches for Kings XI Punjab and has not played in the tournament since then. Overall, in 98 IPL matches, he has scored 1,695 runs.

But then again, the IPL auction never fails to throw surprises as Manoj Tiwary failed to attract any suitors. However, the 34-year old took the setback in his stride and posted a brilliant video. Tiwary, who had expressed his disappointment after going unsold in the last auction, took to Twitter to post a video of himself having a drink while sitting at an exotic location as he wrote:

Unlucky career:

Manoj Tiwary has been one of the most consistent batsmen in domestic circuit for more than a decade now. However, he is one of those unlucky cricketers who did not really get the reward for working hard in domestic circuit. His international career is known to one and all.

The right-handed batsman was mysteriously dropped from the team for months right after he scored his maiden ODI hundred. That was not the first time, he received a setback in his career. Days before his scheduled ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2007, the Bengal cricketer injured his shoulder and was sidelined from the schedule.

He then made his debut in 2008 and was bowled by Brett Lee for just 2. Tiwary had to wait nearly three years for his second match in the 50-over format. The Bengal star has not played for India since 2015 and is unlikely to don the national jersey again.
