Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are already being called the master and apprentice respectively in the Australian cricket circles. Marnus Labuschagne, who is still very new to international cricket has developed a strong bond with his illustrious senior teammate and has been taking all sorts of coaching from him.

Australia head coach Justin Langer has already said how Marnus Labuschagne has developed a strong relationship with Smith. The former Australia opener revealed the two just go on talking about cricket. Langer revealed how Smith and his younger teammate love to spend time together and talk only about the game.

“Probably the most heartening thing is the relationship he’s built with Steve Smith, the best player in the world,” Langer said.

“They spend time, they talk cricket, they love it. Literally, all they do is talk cricket. They eat together, they have breakfast and lunch together, they drink coffee, just talking cricket. And they’re batting three and four together (in the Test line-up). To bat with him (Smith) in the middle and spend time with the best player in the world, and an ex-captain, you could not have a better education than he’s getting at the moment,” he added.

Like master, like apprentice:

It looks like Marnus Labuschagne has started learning from Smith. The right-handed batsman scored a stunning century in the first Test against Pakistan at the Gabba. Labuschagne scored 185 as Australia thrashed the visitors by an innings and five runs to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series. But batting well in Tests is perhaps not the only thing Labuschagne is learning from Smith.

The youngster is perhaps also copying Smith’s unorthodox batting technique. The way Labuschagne left the balls outside the off stump in the ongoing second Test at Australia, he reminded everyone of Smith. The former Australia skipper was all over the social media for his unorthodox leaves in this year’s Ashes. While shouldering arms to the England pacers, he hopped, got his bat across and even turned behind to leave everyone in splits.
