The game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings , on Wednesday, lived up to the expectations. While it was not a thrilling one but the way the game panned out, it would not be wrong to say that it was one of the best games of the season so far, From bowlers making their marks, then fight-backs by batsmen, cameos by finishers to breathtaking catches – the game saw it all. In the end, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians thrashed MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs.

Chasing 171, Chennai Super Kings could only manage 133 for 8. The Super Kings were off to a disastrous manner and lost both their openers cheaply. Jason Behrendorff accounted for Ambati Rayudu in the very first over before Lasith Malinga sent back Shane Watson in the second to leave Chennai Super Kings reeling at 6 for 2.  Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav then stopped the rot for a while. But just when it looked like they had their eyes set, Kieron Pollard pulled off a breathtaking catch to send back Raina for 16.

Jadhav kept going strong while holding firm from one end but the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja failed to get going. Consequently, Chennai Super Kings found themselves 5 down for just 89. The Super Kings eventually ended on 133 to suffer their first defeat of the season.

However, Hardik Pandya along with Kieron Pollard completely changed the complexion of the game with a whirlwind fifty. The two added 45 runs from the last two overs.

The game also saw an interesting incident involving MS Dhoni and Krunal Pandya. The incident took place in the 14th over of Chennai Super Kings’ innings bowled by Krunal Pandya. On the fifth ball of that over, Krunal cheekily tried to Mankad Dhoni or like the game against Kings XI Punjab where he warned Mayank Agarwal, the allrounder wanted to warn Dhoni. However, he was left red-faced as unlike Mayank, Dhoni was well rooted in his crease.

Here is a clip of that incident:
