Having closed out the second day’s play on 44 for two in reply to Australia’s first-innings 467, New Zealand crumbled in the face of another superb display of fast bowling from Pat Cummins, the world’s top-ranked Test bowler. Cummins’ five-for underpinned the home team’s dominance, as New Zealand were sent packing for 148, conceding a first-innings deficit of 319 runs.

Meanwhile, during the Kiwi innings, Mitchell Starc came round the wicket and angled the ball towards Trent Boult’s pads. Boult failed to connect the ball but to everyone’s surprise, lost the ball. The batsman wasn’t sure where the ball went neither were the fielding side. A few seconds later, Matthew Wade, who was fielding in the forward short-leg, found out that the ball got stuck into the pads of Boult.

The incident left Nathan Lyon in tatters as he couldn’t stop laughing, who was in the point region. Cricket Australia shared the video from their official Twitter platform which went viral in a split second.
