Watch – Nathan Lyon’s Epic Reaction After Trent Boult Loses The Ball

Australia ascended into a commanding position on the third day of their Boxing Day encounter against New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, a turn of events on the third day left Aussie spinner, Nathan Lyon, in splits after Kiwi fast bowler Trent Boult managed to lose the ball while facing a Mitchell Starc delivery.

Having closed out the second day’s play on 44 for two in reply to Australia’s first-innings 467, New Zealand crumbled in the face of another superb display of fast bowling from Pat Cummins, the world’s top-ranked Test bowler. Cummins’ five-for underpinned the home team’s dominance, as New Zealand were sent packing for 148, conceding a first-innings deficit of 319 runs.

Nathan Lyon is splits

Meanwhile, during the Kiwi innings, Mitchell Starc came round the wicket and angled the ball towards Trent Boult’s pads. Boult failed to connect the ball but to everyone’s surprise, lost the ball. The batsman wasn’t sure where the ball went neither were the fielding side. A few seconds later, Matthew Wade, who was fielding in the forward short-leg, found out that the ball got stuck into the pads of Boult.

The incident left Nathan Lyon in tatters as he couldn’t stop laughing, who was in the point region. Cricket Australia shared the video from their official Twitter platform which went viral in a split second.

“Trent Boult made the red cherry disappear! Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon’s reactions are priceless!” quoted while sharing the video.

Meanwhile, by stumps on day three, Australia had moved to 137/4, with a 456-run lead in the kitty, and a victory firmly in sight. Matthew Wade and Travis Head, who scored a fine century in the first innings are still in the crease after Australia’s top-order had a rare failure.
