The beauty of cricket is that fortunes can change in it in a blink of an eye and it was proved once again by Rahul Tewatia during the clash between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.

Promoted in the batting order in the high-scoring clash, the left-handed batsman was looking set to become the villain before he made an extraordinary comeback by smashing Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over and eventually playing a match-winning knock.

Chasing an improbable 224, Rajasthan Royals came out all guns blazing as Steve Smith and Sanju Samson helped them cross the 100-run mark in just the ninth over. But things slowed down a bit after Smith was dismissed and Rahul Tewatia was sent in.

While Samson kept playing the big shots, Rahul Tewatia was finding it hard to time the ball. And when Samson departed in the 17th over, it looked all over for Royals. With 51 runs needed from 18 balls, Royals looked set to end on the losing side. As far as Rahul Tewatia is concerned, he was batting on 17 off 23 balls at that stage.

But what followed thereafter was total carnage. In the 18th over, he slammed Cottrell for five sixes to turn the game on its head. He hit the first four balls for sixes before conceding a dot and then ending the over with another maximum. The over gave the Royals the much-needed impetus.

In the 19th over, Jofra Archer hit Mohammed Shami for two sixes before Rahul Tewatia hit one too to reach his fifty off 30 balls. On the final ball of that over, he was dismissed but Tom Curran hit the winning runs in the final over to help the Royals chase down the biggest total in IPL history.
