Watch: Ravindra Jadeja Castles Henry Nicholls With A Beauty

The way Henry Nicholls and Kane Williamson were going about their business in the ongoing first semifinal against India, the latter needed something special to break the partnership. Asked to ball first, India started brilliantly with the ball. The pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah did not let the New Zealand top-order get off to a quick start.

Bumrah then dismissed Martin Guptill cheaply to put India firmly on top. The bowlers continued to pile pressure on Nicholls and Williamson thereafter. However, the two held firm and soon found their rhythm. Runs started to flow as New Zealand crossed the 50-run mark. Both the batsmen were looking rock solid at the crease as India looked like running out of ideas.

The two had already added 68 runs for the second wicket. But just when it looked like Nicholls and Williamson would send the Indian bowlers on a leather hunt, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Nicholls with a peach of a delivery. In the 19th over of the innings, Nicholls tried to defend off the front foot, but the ball sneaked through the bat-pad gap to hit middle and off stump. Jadeja is playing just his second match of the tournament.

India, meanwhile, will be looking to restrict New Zealand to a low total. With overcast conditions in Manchester at the moment, a big score could pose all sorts of trouble for the Men in Blue. The winner of this clash will take on the winner of the game between England and Australia in the final. The final will be held on Sunday at the Lord’s.
