The World Cup is getting better and better with each passing day. On the opening day of the competition, Ben Stokes took an absolute breathtaking catch to send back South Africa’s Andile Phehlukwayo. And on the very second day, West Indies wicketkeeper Shai Hope took another blinder to dismiss Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Babar was batting on 12 when he was dropped by Shimron Hetmyer in the 11th over. However, the right-handed batsman just could not capitalise on the reprieve as Shai Hope dashed his hopes by taking a blinder. He added just 10 more runs before departing and leaving his team in deep trouble.

Oshane Thomas bolwed a wider short delivery and the ball deserved to be hit. However, Babar could not get on top of the ball and ended up edging it behind the stumps. The ball, nonetheless, was going between Shai Hope and Chris Gayle at first sleep before the former made a full length dive to take a screamer.

Here is the catch by Shai Hope:

At the time of writing the report, Pakistan were reeling at 80 for 7 after 18 overs.

Pakistan, meanwhile,  will have to get rid of their recent poor form in order to start the tournament on a good note. The 1992 winners have lost their last ten ODIs as well as the warm-up game against Pakistan. Pakistan will have to be at their absolute best to get over the line against West Indies who are brimming with confidence.

At the start of 2019, West Indies drew the ODI series against England 2-2 to show that they are a force to reckon with in ODIs. The addition of Andre Russell to the team has only made them stronger. The Jason Holder-led side have already shown what to expect from them by smashing 421 against New Zealand in their warm-up clash.
