Watch: Team India Members Wish Countrymen On 73rd Independence Day

The entire nation is celebrating the 73rd Independence Day today. Team India members also joined the bandwagon despite sitting miles away in the Caribbeans. India, on Wednesday, took on West Indies in the third ODI. And while the players were busy on the field, the BCCI posted a clip on Twitter in which members of the Team are seen wishing their countrymen.

BCCI captioned the video, “#TeamIndia wishes everyone a very Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind #IndependenceDay”. In the short video, a number of players and coach Ravi Shastri could be seen wishing their compatriots. The video started with Rohit Sharma giving his introduction before the likes of Kedar Jadhav, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav joined in.

Kohli termed the Independence day as ,”the most iconic day in the history of our country” whereas Kedar wished the Indian fans in Marathi language. The video ended in a brilliant manner with the members saying Jai Hind.

India, nonetheless, beat West Indies by 6 wickets (DLS method) in the third ODI to seal the three-match series 2-0. India rode on Kohli’s 114 not out and Shreyas Iyer’s quickfire 65 off 41 balls to chase down the revised target of 255 in 32.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare.

Kohli and Iyer were once again at the forefront of India’s run chase as they shared a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the team within touching distance of the target for the second match in succession. The duo had shared a 125-run stand in the second ODI when India batted first at the same venue last Sunday.

India were in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 92 for 3. However, once Iyer joined Kohli in the middle, things started to look rosy for the visitors. The duo eventually batted India out of trouble. Iyer was dismissed for 65 but Kohli remained till the end to make sure the team crosses the finishing line without much trouble.
