Virat Kohli giving Kesrick Williams a taste of his own medicine in the just-concluded first T20I between India and West Indies in Hyderabad. The India captain brought out his aggressive side in full display as he got into duels, cursed himself and looked at his animated best. He scored a career-best 94 not out, helping India to chase down a mammoth total of 208.

In the 13th over, Virat Kohli and Williams almost collided in the middle of the pitch, as the bowler went for the ball and the batsman went for a single. Furious with the incident, Kohli complained to the umpire immediately. Williams raised his hands in apology straightaway too but Kohli was in a different kind of mood.

The duel exploded in Williams’s next over – the 16th over – with India still needing 54 from 5 overs. Kohli and Rishabh Pant hit a six each as India collected 23 runs off the over. But more than the sixes, it was the Kohli’s reaction that took all the limelight. After hitting Williams for a six, Kohli brought out the notebook celebration as Williams looked on in amusement.

Williams’ send off to Kohli in past:

When Virat Kohli pulled out the celebration out of the blue, it was believed that he had had copied Williams’ send-off to Chadwick Walton in the CPL. However, Kohli, while speaking at the end of the match, made it clear that it was more of a revenge. Kohli said that Williams had given him a send-off in 2017 after dismissing him during a T20I in Jamaica two years ago.

“It’s not the CPL (about Williams’ celebration), it happened to me in Jamaica when he got me out. So I thought I’ll tick a few in the notebook as well, but all good. There were a few words, but smiles at the end. That’s what you want to see. Good competitive cricket but in the end shake hands and give a high-five. That’s what cricket is all about. Play it hard but have respect for opponents,” Kohli said.

And as fans are going wild over Kohli’s celebration, here is the video of Williams’ celebration from 2017 that made him do that.
